Overview

Warm materials inside an industrial shell

A fourteen-hundred square-metre studio and showroom for a metalwork practice in Rotterdam's Merwe-Vierhavens district.

We kept the industrial shell — exposed concrete, roof trusses, north-facing skylights — and introduced warm materials at human scale: walnut screens, aged-steel shelving, and a kitchen designed to serve both staff and visiting clients.

The contrast does the work: raw structure softened by craft, a workplace that doubles as a showroom without compromising either.
